We regret to inform you, that the International Conference on "Climate Change, Environmental Protection, and Sustainable Development : Issues and Challenges of developing countries" has been POSTPONED. We shall update the new dates in due course of time.

Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing mankind today. Developing countries including India bears the brunt of climate change due to innumerable reasons and lack of expertise in adapting mitigating mechanisms. When the countries are in the grip of climate change, it would be appropriate to deliberate on hosts of issues such as climate change treaties, causes and consequences, adaptation and mitigation and cross cutting issues.

United Nations is establishing its post-2015 development agenda, including the adoption of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): a set of action-oriented, aspirational, and universally applicable goals that reaffirm our commitment to the global community. The conference will serve as a platform for establishing a forum for dialogue, enhance awareness, and mobilize commitment and actions through bringing together policy makers, academicians and stakeholders. This will be developed with the aim of mainstreaming climate change and environmental protection concerns into sustainable development policies, strategies, and practices in India.

The conference will have the following objectives.

  • Assess the current state of climate change, environmental protection in developing countries
  • Define opportunities and set priorities for legal systems to respond to the challenges
  • Identify policy and institutional innovations and best practices required to advance climate resilience and low carbon emissions.
  • Promote sharing of experiences, best practices and lessons learned in mainstreaming climate change concerns into development policies and practices;
  • Build and strengthen strategic alliances and partnerships to further climate change agenda of developing countries

The proposed conference will allow the participants to debate freely on issues related to climate change treaties and conventions, carbon emission, carbon credit, clean technology, adaptation and mitigation and the cross cutting issues. The conference will provide a platform to stakeholders to share the latest studies and findings on ecology, climate change and sustainable development.

Climate Change, Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development: Issues & Challenges of Developing Countries.

Five sectoral themes and five cross-cutting issues have been identified to guide the session. There are various ways of organizing themes, for example, ecosystem management (a theme) can offer solutions in agriculture, urban settings and public health. We therefore welcome contributions that demonstrate the added value of combining knowledge, experience and innovation across themes and sub-themes.
